Safe Re-Opening

To make Waterbabies a safer place for our families and staff, we have modified our policies and procedures to help reduce risk of infection. Our safety measures incorporate health screenings, reduced capacities and class sizes, social distancing, personal protection equipment and more. We look forward to sharing essential water safety and swim skills with you in our fun and safe environment!

Please read the information below prior to attending lessons. (Of course, everything is subject to change based on updated guideline recommendations from the Governor and the CDC.)

Rear Entry & Exit Points: To minimize contact, we have closed our front entry and reception area and ask that families park in the rear parking lot. From there, they will be safely checked in prior to entering the pool. After lessons, a separate door directly off the pool deck will be used to exit.

Limited Facility Access: Facility access will be limited to the pool deck and a portion of each locker room. Only toilets and sinks will be accessible in the locker rooms, while use of lockers and showers is currently suspended. (See our ‘Swim-Ready’ / ‘Wrap & Go’ policy below in ‘Safer Families’.)

Added Amenities on Deck: Since much of the facility is temporarily closed off, the following amenities are now available on the pool deck:

      • A baby changing area
      • Cubbies and wall hooks for storage of personal items
      • Deck shower so each swimmer can quickly rinse off before their lesson
      • Limited products will be available for purchase at check-in (such as swim diapers, swim caps, goggles & swim fins)
      • A staff deck manager to help direct parents to classes, swap out clean toys for lessons, and answer questions

Enhanced Sanitization: We have increased our cleaning regimen and pool sanitization schedule. In addition to deep cleaning and disinfecting throughout the week, all high-touch surfaces will be wiped down with disinfectant frequently throughout class days. Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes will be readily available for use.

Physical Distancing: We will designate quadrants of the pool to ensure appropriate social distancing. A limited number of chairs will be available around the pool with markers to align with distancing guidelines.

Reduced Capacity: Capacity in the facility and in the pool has been reduced. Only one parent/ caregiver per student will be permitted in the building.

Smaller Class Sizes: As per Health Department guidelines, our class sizes will be reduced to small group formats (see Safer Swim Lessons.)

Make-ups, Open Swims & Parties: All extra swim opportunities are suspended.

Suspended Amenities: To reduce the spread of germs, we are suspending access to books, toys, hair dryers, swim gear loaners, playroom, showers, lockers, and front store area.

Personal Belongings: Please label and keep track of all your belongings.

Online Portals: Our easy-to-use parent portal enables parents to view their schedules, manage their accounts, and more – thus reducing face-to-face contact with staff.

Family Self-Assessment: In an effort to reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure and to help prevent the spread of the virus, you may not attend swim lessons if you are currently experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or if you have had any recent exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

If any of the following apply to you, please notify the office as soon as possible and do not come to class:

      • You are currently, or experienced within the last 14 days,  fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
      • You have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 14 days.
      • You have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

Face Coverings: Required for everyone over the age of 6 years old (except when in the water.)

Limited Instructor Contact: Per the latest updates from the Governor’s office & Health Department, swim instructors may provide close contact support (within 6 feet) to swimmers who need assistance, as long as the instructor has the proper PPE face shield on (which all of our instructors will have.) Your safety & comfort level is important; if you prefer no contact at all from your instructor, we will honor your request.

Limited Occupancy: Only one caregiver per child will be allowed into the facility. We ask that families leave all non-swimming family members at home to allow for optimal social distancing and reduced facility capacity.

Touchless Check-In: Arrive no more than 10 minutes before your scheduled lesson. Prior to entry, all guests will be safely checked-in and screened by a staff member. After check-in, use the available hand sanitizer.

Swim-Ready Entry: Please come dressed for lessons as there will be no access to locker room change areas. (For children with diapers, you can use the changing table on deck.)

Wrap & Go Exit: When done with lessons, it’s ‘Wrap & Go’ time! Be sure to bring extra towels, robes, sweat suits or other over-clothes to put on over your swimsuits, as there will be no access to locker room change areas.

Social Distancing: Practice social distancing and keep kiddos close.

No Loaners: Make sure you have everything you need before you arrive. This includes the required cloth swim diaper for ALL children under 5 years old (whether potty-trained or not), swim cap for everyone with hair longer than their ears, swim goggles (if applicable), swim fins (if applicable), and towels. REMINDER: We will have a limited stock of swim diapers, caps & goggles available on deck for purchase if you forget something; however no loaners will be available.

Bottled Water: As the drinking fountain will be inaccessible, we encourage guests to bring their own bottled water in a non-glass container.

Safety Training: All staff members will participate in a safety training prior to our re-opening.

Symptom Checklist: Anyone on our team that is experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms must stay home. A list of symptoms as outlined by the CDC will be made available and reviewed before every shift.

Temperature Scans: Upon arrival, all staff will have temperatures taken via touch-less infrared thermometer, and will be asked to complete a self assessment. If the staff member has a fever, or self reports signs of illness, they will be asked to return home.

Personal Protective Equipment: All staff will wear cloth face masks, plastic face shields and gloves, where applicable. In addition to carrying their normal safety equipment, our lifeguards will be equipped with the Seal Easy CPR mask equipped with an antiviral insert.

Swim-Ready Rule: Staff will be required to show up ready to teach lessons.

No Sharing of Equipment: Each instructor will be assigned an area with his/her own equipment, which will be swapped out and cleaned after each lesson by a dedicated cleaner. In addition to standard personal protective equipment (PPE), lifeguards will not share any equipment (rescue tube, hip pack, whistle) during a shift and will sanitize the equipment prior to the next shift.
